**Uncover the Hidden Gem: Hotel Holzer Brau – Your Bavarian Escape Awaits!**
Okay, Buckle Up Buttercups! Hotel Holzer Brau: My Bavarian Brain Dump!
Right, so I just got back from Hotel Holzer Brau, and honestly, my brain's still processing the Lederhosen-fueled bliss. Let's get this over with…I mean, review! (Deep breath). This is gonna be messy, but you need the REAL DEAL.
First Impressions, & the Elevator of Dreams (and Disappointment)
Okay, first things first: Accessibility. The website promised… well, promises are a dime a dozen, right? Let’s be real. While they advertise Facilities for disabled guests, I’d be cautious. The Elevator exists (phew!), but it's… cozy. Seriously, if you're in a wheelchair, you're probably gonna want to call ahead and double-check. The hallways seemed okay-ish width-wise, but I didn’t do a full-blown accessibility audit (I'm a travel writer, not a building inspector!). Parking was easy, the Car park [free of charge] was a win.
The Internet… or the Lack Thereof (Sometimes)
Internet Access? Yep. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! (thank the digital gods!). But here's a truth bomb: connection speed wasn't exactly warp speed. I'm talking occasional buffering on Netflix, and a bit of a struggle when trying to get some work done. Internet [LAN]? Forget it. Internet services generally were… present. So, pack your patience, or just use it as an excuse to unplug! Wi-Fi in public areas was… better, but still not perfect.
Cleanliness and Safety: Did I Survive? (Spoiler alert: Yes!)
Alright, pandemic paranoia is REAL. So, big points for Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, and the constant presence of Hand sanitizer. They're definitely taking things seriously, with Staff trained in safety protocol. I even saw them using Professional-grade sanitizing services. I felt fairly safe, which, y'know, is kinda important these days. I didn't see a Sterilizing equipment, though. The vibe was pretty secure. The Rooms sanitized between stays – a solid A+. They even had Room sanitization opt-out available! See? Nice. Safe dining setup was legit too, with a Sanitized kitchen and tableware items.
The Food! Oh, the Food! (And My Waistline’s Regret)
Okay, where do I even start? Dining, drinking, and snacking at Holzer Brau… it’s a Bavarian food FESTIVAL. First off, don’t skip breakfast. The Breakfast [buffet]? Glorious. Omelets made to order, mountains of sausages, and flaky croissants. I went full tourist and tried everything. (I slightly regretted this.) They also offer Breakfast takeaway service!
The Restaurants: Multiple! There’s an A la carte in restaurant option, plus Buffet in restaurant (which I'm still dreaming about). The Asian cuisine in restaurant was surprisingly good (even if a bit unexpected in Bavaria!). I really enjoyed the Coffee/tea in restaurant, and they had a Poolside bar which was quite nice.
Speaking of which, the happy hour? Killer. The Happy hour. And the Bar. So much beer, so little restraint. They offer Bottle of water but I had enough to drink there. They really did a good job to show the Alternative meal arrangement, it showed that they cared. And the snacks at the Snack bar were a life saver. The Soup in restaurant was also delicious,
I also tried Western cuisine in restaurant, which was pretty solid. Oh yeah, and I actually really like the Vegetarian restaurant.
Things to Do (Besides Eat and Drink, Obviously!) and Ways to Relax (Maybe)
This is where things get a bit… spa-tacular. Let’s get to the Spa! They had a Sauna, a Steamroom, and a Massage!! The Fitness center exists. I saw it. Didn't use it. Priorities, people! They also had a Swimming pool (outdoor, with a gorgeous Pool with a view).
The spa was the highlight. The Body wrap (I might have drooled), and the Body scrub made me feel like a new person. I did not try the Foot bath but felt like I could have had one. This is where they really earned their money.
The Room: My Bavarian Bunker
My room? Ahhh. Air conditioning was a lifesaver. Alarm clock? Check. Bathrobes? Bless up. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I loved the Blackout curtains (thank you, sleep gods!). There were Complimentary tea and Coffee/tea maker, essential for my writing binges. I had a Desk, a Laptop workspace, a Mini bar that I never touched, and a Refrigerator. Also a Seating area, and a Sofa. I didn't use my Telephone really, but it was there. Wi-Fi [free] was essential.
The Minor Annoyances (Because No Place is Perfect, Duh!)
A few minor gripes: the elevator felt a bit cramped, and the bathroom phone felt… weird. Like, who needs phone in the bathroom, am I right? Also, I didn't see a Doctor/nurse on call. But overall, nothing major to whine about.
Service and Conveniences: They Try Hard!
The staff was generally friendly and helpful. Daily housekeeping kept things spotless. Concierge was helpful. The Laundry service and Dry cleaning were a plus. Luggage storage was convenient, and the Cash withdrawal machine was a life saver. I didn't use the Currency exchange but it was there. The Facilities for disabled guests were present. They even have a Gift/souvenir shop!
The Kid Factor (I’m Not a Parent, But…)
I did see kids running around, so yup, Family/child friendly. They also had a Babysitting service!
The Extras: Business Meetings and… Weddings?
They had a huge Meeting/banquet facilities. They also do Seminars, Meetings. And On-site event hosting. And a Terrace. I saw people in the Shrine.
The Verdict: Should You Go?
Okay, so it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good. Hotel Holzer Brau offers a truly authentic Bavarian experience, from the hearty food to the friendly staff. It's the perfect base for exploring the region.
My Quirky Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Lederhosen! (Minus half a lederhosen for the slightly dodgy Wi-Fi sometimes.)

Hotel Holzer Brau – Bavarian Blitz! (aka My Sanity-Challenging, Beer-Soaked Holiday)
(Prep Notes: Pack comfortable shoes. Seriously. And maybe a phrasebook with "Where's the loo?" in Deutsch. Trust me.)
Day 1: Arrival & Immediate Bavarian Bliss (and Slight Panic)
- 14:00 – Arrival at Munich Airport (MUC): Okay, smooth sailing! (Famous last words, right?). Finding the train to Rosenheim was…well, an adventure involving a bewildered ticket machine and me gesticulating wildly. Finally, SUCCESS! First hurdle cleared.
- 16:00 – Train to Rosenheim: Gorgeous scenery. Rolling hills, impossibly green fields, cows that probably judge you silently. I started feeling actual joy. Then, the kid across from me started practicing his trombone. My joy wavered.
- 17:00 – Check-in at Hotel Holzer Brau: The hotel itself is gorgeous. Think gingerbread house meets cozy chalet. But…the key. Oh, the key! It weighs approximately a metric ton and features a ridiculously intricate design. I nearly dropped it three times before reaching my room. (Thank goodness for that first victory beer, this would've been a disaster without it.)
- 17:30 – Room Reveal: Okay, the room…it's charming. Antique furniture, crisp linens…and a distinct feeling that the last person who stayed here was a Grand Duchess. The bathroom, however, is straight-up tiny. Embrace the intimacy, me. Embrace it.
- 18:00 – First Beer! (and Schnitzel Anticipation): Downstairs to the hotel's Braustüberl (brewery pub). The beer? Divine. Crisp, cold, and immediately erasing all memories of international travel stress. This is where I spend an overly long time reveling in the local beer.
Day 2: Rosenheim Rambles & the Pursuit of Pretzels
- 08:00 – Breakfast Debacle: The breakfast buffet is a glorious spread! Assorted cheese, meats, rolls. I grabbed everything. And then promptly spilled coffee all over myself. (Pro-tip: Don't reach for the bacon while balancing a plate AND a full coffee cup.) My dignity took a hit, but hey, the food was still fantastic!
- 09:00 – Exploration of Rosenheim: I decided it was time to get off the beaten path…and get lost. The town center is breathtaking, especially the old market square. It was filled with locals buying, chatting, and carrying on. I decided to watch.
- 10:00 – Pretzel Pilgrimage: The REAL mission: find an authentic, gloriously salted pretzel. This involved asking (badly) for directions, wandering aimlessly for twenty minutes, and finally stumbling upon a tiny bakery. The pretzel? Worth the search. The best thing I ate since my last pretzel, which was, in fact, the one I ate just last week.
- 12:00 - Lunch and a near miss with the "Strudl" I had to order it! And I almost didn't! But then, I did! And it was great!
- 14:00 – River Inn Stroll: The Inn River is stunning. I walked, I sat, I contemplated life, the universe, and everything (probably while secretly hoping no one would notice my coffee-stained shirt). The "everything" had it's own special, specific meaning.
- 18:00 - Beer, Again: The beer is really starting to grow on me, it's very charming. I'm noticing more and more, but I feel like I want to go back to the rooms.
- 20:00 - The hotel is actually VERY charming, I didn't think I would like it at first but the beer made it all better.
Day 3: Day Trip to… somewhere
- 09:00 - Train Trip…
- 10:00 - Arrival at…
- 12:00 - Lunch at…
- 14:00 - Sight seeing…
- 16:00 - Back to the Train
- 19:00 - Back at the Hotel
- 19:30 - Dinner
Day 4: Leaving and the Beginning of the End
- 08:00 – Breakfast: Another round of buffet bliss, carefully navigated this time (mostly). Sent a mental thank you to the coffee gods.
- 09:00 - Last stroll through Rosenheim
- 10:00 – Departure from Hotel: The key… the key is manageable now. I barely even felt it! The front desk woman smiled at me knowingly, probably used to my near-fatal fumble.
- 11:00 – Train back to Munich:
- 18:00 - Last thoughts: This trip… it was messy, imperfect. (Just like me!) But it was filled with incredible food, stunning scenery, and beer that definitely deserves a medal. Would I recommend the Hotel Holzer Brau? Absolutely. Just maybe bring a bigger suitcase for all those pretzels. And maybe, just maybe, learn a few more phrases than "Where's the loo?" (Though that one did come in handy…)
- 19:00 Plane back home: And I'm pretty good.
There you have it! My unvarnished, beer-soaked Bavarian adventure. Now go forth and enjoy your own!
